Well I had been thinking about photography but then I signed in and realized that I had no choice but to use WordPress block editor to create this post, so now I’m just hoping this works…
Welcome to this week’s installment of my daily photographic record. Posts in this series will be photos from the week before, roughly Friday through Friday. This, once a week, wrap-up post will publish on Sunday. The photos for this post will be in a gallery format, they will have all been taken on my phone. The captions on the photos will be an indication of the photo-editing software used to edit them, or simply “as-shot” for those that are unedited.
Writing a weekly wrap up with a gallery is a way for me to gather my thoughts on what has caught my attention in the previous week. It will be a way of filtering through what I am thinking about photographically. I’ll also be able to come back to these posts and look at what trends emerge over time.
As with all my posts, your comments are welcome. I appreciate your interaction with my work here on this blog. It is my intention to publish in this series on Sunday. Every Sunday that is possible. Looking at my year, I already know there are some weeks where I will not be close enough to my technology to make a post possible. In an effort to keep this project pleasant for myself, I won’t be attempting catch-up posts.
Hope to see you in the comments below and in this space next week!
Cheers!
Here is a link to a WP post that may be helpful to U and anybody else who (like me!) is underwhelmed by the block editor:
https://wordpress.com/blog/2020/08/13/the-classic-editing-experience-is-moving-not-leaving/
Moreover, U can still get down and dirty with the underlying HTML code. Click on the vertical stack of 3 dots in the upper right corner of an editor window. The resulting menu includes the option to shift to [Code editor]. Shifting back is even easier.
While the ancient WP Admin editor is still available, I have been using it less and less.

Thank you for including this link. I’ll admit I was ignoring the coming change in the hopes that it would just go away.

I like your collage of photos, although I couldn’t see captions as you describe. The red leaf in the grass is my favorite :). I understand your frustration with being hit with the block editing. It happened to me a few weeks ago and I have just been using the simplest blocks – made a bit easier after getting questions answered in a live chat with WP. If all else fails, I choose the “classic block” as the option, because at least that’s familiar! Good luck!

Thanks very much for this comment, I had not noticed that the captions are not popping up like they use to, I will look and see if I can fix that because I kind of liked that feature.

You’re welcome. I think it works in some of the media block options, but maybe not all of them. Good luck.

When I put this issue in one of the forums, a staff member responded that it was a known issue, so hopefully it will be fixed at some point!

Well, that’s at least encouraging. I hope they fix it soon!

I like the red flower photo and the red leaf in the grass as well. The leaves in decay is interesting and different. I don’t mind the block editor and have been using it for quite some time now. I find some of the block options can be fun to use.

I am definitely a creature of habit when it comes to tech, so I am usually the last one to embrace a new update. I think I am going to just have to adapt.

Stupid block editor. Those muffins look yummy, and the leaves are gorgeous!

I think the block editor heard you since I found this comment in spam. Anyway, I guess this particular caption problem is a “known problem” so maybe it will be fixed at some point 🤷♀️

Don’t know how I missed this in my feed recently. 😞 Loving your capture of the sole fall leaf among the grass…such a lovely image of autumn. Hoping you are doing well.

Is it possible that you are not subscribed to this new blog? I think some of the followers of my old blog, it just updated to the new and some it required subscribing to the new one. I am well, but not really fully back into a blogging groove. I hope all is well with you also!
